OurTown 2.0™, introduced at the Illinois Municipal League Conference in 1995, was deployed at Barrington, IL in 1996. At first, governments and citizens slowly warmed to the concept of Internet enabled government. Today there is an explosion in the desire for 24/7 government.

 

The public works department in Desplaines, Illinois launched its own web site in March of 1997 with service to the citizen firmly in mind. The director receives daily OT2 reports on the status of every job pending or complete.

Every service provided by the public works department in Villa Park, Illinois is available to its 35,000 citizens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. OT2 is always on.

 


Chatham, Illinois, whose population swells when the state legislature is in session at the nearby capitol in Springfield, was an early adopter of OT2. Now city hall, the police station and city council chambers are connected and able to quickly exchange information.
